── WHY NOW

Ontario electricity costs are climbing — on both sides of the bill

Ontario electricity costs are climbing on both sides of the bill. A surge in demand is forcing Ontario to expand the grid. Class A ICI facilities feel it twice: in Global Adjustment and in wholesale prices.

01 • GA IS RISING

Global Adjustment keeps scaling.

GA funds Ontario's generation fleet and grows with nuclear refurbishment and energy procurement. It's already the largest line on most energy bills.

02 • PRICES ARE VOLATILE

Wholesale prices get bumpier.

The new Ontario Zonal Price (OZP) drops the old price-smoothing. Expect sharper swings as the grid runs closer to its limits.

03 • THE SOLAR C-PPA ANSWER

A dual-sided hedge

A long-term solar C-PPA pushes back on both: lower GA exposure, price visibility, plus Clean Energy Credits — no capex.

── FREQUENTLY ASKED

Questions Class A buyers ask first

  • The Ontario rate class for large industrial and commercial customers — generally facilities with average monthly peak demand above 1 MW (some sectors qualify from 500 kW). Class A GA is calculated from your share of the province's top five peak-demand hours, making it both the biggest cost lever and the biggest source of bill volatility.

  • From your peak demand and load characteristics, current Ontario GA and commodity rates, and the price structure of a representative solar C-PPA. The on-screen result is a planning-grade estimate shown as a range (±15%) — defensible for an internal first look, not a contract quote. A full decision-grade assessment uses your actual interval data and a site-specific generation model.

  • Ontario's tradeable instrument representing the environmental attributes of clean electricity generation. A Solar C-PPA delivers both the cost benefit and the CECs — retirable against Scope 2 reporting for CDP, GRI, and emerging Canadian climate disclosure requirements.

  • You see your result on screen and can print or save a branded one-pager. If the numbers warrant it, request a full decision-grade assessment — built from your actual site data, no cost, no commitment. If not, we won't follow up unless you ask.
